What I love about being a Medium

I have been a working medium for many years now and simply love my job. Why? Because I constantly marvel at the information that I receive from Spirit. When working as a medium, one of the most important aspects is to provide the client with ‘proof of survival’.

This is essentially proof that the energy/spirits that you are working with are who they claim to be. It’s not good enough to say “I have Grandma here, she has white hair and a blue cardigan” as that can describe a lot of Grandmas that have passed over. I often receive the most amazing details from Spirit, information that I could not possibly have known. What always amazes me is when the client I am working with doesn’t know the information themselves and has to check with somebody in their family or friends who subsequently confirm that it was accurate. One example of this that I came across was when a client’s grandfather came through and he described a game of marbles, however the client had to check with their parents as they were too young at that time to remember the game.

I love when people come for readings. Some are filled with trepidation, others are sceptics and many are curious. Some will sit and say nothing, as if they are testing me to see if I am a mind reader, which I am not. When somebody calls me to make an appointment or book a Skype session, I don’t ask why they want to come. As I am also a counsellor, I don’t know until they tell me whether they are coming for a reading or for a counselling session. I then have to change my mind to be open to receive information from Spirit.

Around 15 years ago I wanted to know what my spirit looked like. So I visited a number of Psychic Artists. After I had received the portrait, I began to realise that I couldn’t possibly be working with the whole of the Navajo Native American Tribe or all of the Chinese Doctors from around 100 years ago.  The psychic artist draws the spirit guides that are guiding you throughout your life. It could be Great Aunt Gladys, a loved one that has passed over, or indeed a guide that you may not have known in the physical world. The guides come to us at different stages in our life, to help us with different life challenges. The same way in which you need a lawyer, a dentist, a doctor, a policeman, a life coach, a tennis coach, a good friend to rely on and help you, the same is for those in Spirit. They come with love and more importantly, with great knowledge, wisdom and a higher perspective.

It dawned on me it didn’t matter what they looked like or indeed if they had a name. What is of importance is that the information they give is accurate, so I gave up and just accepted that they were there helping me.

The very best psychic artist was of course the wonderful Coral Polge.  I have yet to find one as fine, accurate and humble as she was.

Having had so much irrefutable evidence of the proof of survival as well as confirmation of events that unfolded as they had been given to me, I now have an unwavering, unfaltering acceptance. I always ‘give what I am given’, although it’s not always positive information. I have on occasion tried to find a ‘softer’ way of delivering a certain phrase or sentence, only to be told by Spirit to ‘just tell them as is’.

I also from time to time have a chuckle with Spirit. I recall one lady who came to see me about 10 years ago; her daughter had paid for her session by way of a Christmas present. Her mother was clearly grateful for her daughter’s present, and I am sure would not have come to see me by choice. Her name was ‘Christina’ and she explained that she was a sceptic and her daughter had booked the session. She wanted to see if her husband would contact her. I began by saying that “I have a man here by the name of Jack although that wasn’t a name he was called in every day circles. He was about 5ft 7’ and was a handsome man.

She jumped in before I could finish by saying: “No no my husband was called John and yes he was called Jack, but nobody would know that and he was 5ft 6”.

I continued, saying that he told me that he had passed finally with a heart attack. Again she jumped in: “No he had cancer and at the end had a heart attack”.

At this point Jack said to me “she was an awkward and difficult woman when I was alive and she hasn’t changed a bit! I’m leaving.” And with that he was gone. I told her what had happened, at this point she insisted that I try and make the connection again.  I told her that it didn’t work that way and I couldn’t just summon Spirit up.

What I love about my work is the I feel so privileged to be the conduit for Spirit’s work, and to be in the wonderful position of giving guidance to people when they feel lost, hopeless, and uncertain.

My clients are from all over the world and I hold a special place in my heart for each and every one. They all have one thing in common: they want to love, they want to be loved, they want peace, they want reassurance, they want healing, they want to know that the ones that they loved -and are no longer on the earth- are still close by.
